09.25.2008 Thursday: Home Again, Please.

Today I: woke up earl(ier) than usual to finish a project that was bugging me in my brain; grabbed the hotel breakfast and ate it in my room; packed up my suitcases and supplies; checked out of hotel; taxi I prearranged did not come so I took the hotel shuttle to the airport and grabbed a taxi there; missed taxi meant I missed the group bus to go run up (or even amble up) the "Rocky" stairs in Philly; presented my brief workshop on the use of folktales/fables in business and corporate storytelling settings; talked with several people afterwards who might be interested in my services as a storytelling coach; had a great lunch with lots of positive conversation; attended a workshop on the use and development of telecourses; "split" a cab with another person back to the Philly airport; took a B767 plane from Philly to Charlotte- first wide-body (umm, sorta) that I had been on since I was in high-school; barely made it in time for my flight to PHX-which was a cramped, painful trip and otherwise uneventful. BOO to USAirways for the $15 baggage fee. I don't pay it 'cuz I travel so much but others try to get around it by taking everything on board causing chaos and unhappy people. (BOO USAirways for this!); finally got home to my lovely family at the airport and the drive home- just about 10 days straight on the road; ate some late dinner; wrote to you; crawling into bed. Whew!

08.25.2008 Monday: Notify the Press!

Today I: had a staff meeting at breakfast and worked on calendars; updated and retooled the Storytelling 101 package to a different, lower price point; worked on the press release for the "Ancient Secret of Public Speaking" workshops coming up in October and November; set the date for the next live version of the "Outside In Artist Marketing Workshop" for February 26-28 in Phoenix Arizona; did some research on a new story and found some interesting old variants- that kind of storytelling stuff is what I love in creating new stories to tell; had a late night dinner with my wife to celebrate our anniversary (Aug 15).

04.14.2008 Monday: Guest Storyteller Speaker

Today I: made copies of workshop materials; had a staff meeting; picked up the rental car (I am at the highest super-duper First preferred service with Avis); ran said copies to Kinko's for more copying; worked with wife #1 to make handout packages; travelled to and did a guest speaker/sub teacher visit for a community college storytelling (read that "humanities credit") class; read with great interest the postings on the wall of elementary school teachers-to-be- I hope you aren't burned out of your enthusiasm in less than a year, my friends; dealt with a temperamental Internet connection at home; did the post office run; decided to take an extension on my 1040; researched for reminding some Greek myths; worked with my wife to pick up 8 brooms for the storytelling classes this week; missed the Arizona Storytelling Guild meeting; printed out maps and GPS for the school(s) I am working with this week; Twittered; picked up meds from the drugstore. Glad they are open at 10PM.

Today I: had a staff meeting; took packages to the post office; talked on the phone with one of my summer storytelling sponsors; faxed back contracts; did banking; booked multiple flights for future events; worked on another mailing; updated my mailing list; contacted one of my booking-agent people; sorted through a pile of things that needed to be GTD'd; took storytellingproducts.com orders; helped some people with their storyteller.net pages; read some interesting postings that convince me even more that Storytelling is going into the direction of voiceover with the foundational struggle and problems that industry is having; became more convinced than ever that the Outside In Model is very true.

03.09.2008 Sunday: Catching Up Some More

"Hey Sean, I always try to learn how folks learn about me. 1 potential gig is pending already from the 1 month trial premium website. Think if I'd done this earlier." Storyteller.net directory listings work.

Today I: went to the PO Box to clear out mail from the last several days and found this note and the Storytelling magazine with my article that Priscilla sent to me; updated storyteller.net pages, worked on my "getting things done" notebook; had my Monday morning staff meeting on Sunday night; was again reminded that "if you aren't listed on Storyteller.net, you are missing bookings, period."
